HISTORY

Many attempts have been made at developing a hoof boot that won’t come off and is easy to fit. Until now this has proven impossible In 1988 Gary Wood, a New Zealander, recognized the need for a product to aid in the treatment of the dreaded foot abscess. No suitable product which fitted all the requirements Gary had was available to be purchased so he developed his own. Gary’s criteria for a boot were:

  • The boot must be user Friendly
  • The boot must be comfortable for the animal
  • The boot must be sturdy but not indestructible
  • The boot must not come off
The commercial product fits the criteria remarkably and is made up as follows:
  • Natural rubber sole
  • Breathable neoprene upper
  • Velcro finish
  • 50ml Velcro finish and locking tab
Gulf Rubber joined Gary as a partner and now manufactures the boot in commercial quantities and distributes them in the UK, New Zealand and now Australia. As a result the product can be marketed at a price which should see horse Owners, Trainers and Stud Masters excited as at last we have an aid to hoof care that really works without emptying the bank.
